We are learning about New Zealand Native trees. This is important because some New Zealand native trees provide medicine like the Manuka & Kawakawa tree. Sailing Trip Recount
Last week on Thursday TWP 4 (Te Wai Rua Pakiki) and Mr Gaffeny’s year 5s went on a sailing trip. We had to take mufti to school and wear togs under it. We had to be at school before the bus leaves. Sione - Our Sailing Trip
Last week on Thursday TWP 4 (Te Wai Rua Pakiki 4) and Mr Gaffeny's year fives went sailing. We had to wear mufti to school and bring togs under our clothes. When we got there we had to get in 3s and I was with Daniel & Xavier. But that was only to build the boat. Before we got in our boats we had to put on a wet suit and a life jacket. Once we got in our boats we had to put a rope on the the lady with the speed boat then we had to connect it to the others. When we reached the deep area we let go of the ropes and we had to follow this other lady (Holly). Awhile after we had a race and my partner was Daniel but we only came second because our other friends (Xavier & Aleksion) won. It was a pretty close race because me and Daniel were speeding up at the end. Here Is A Picture Of Us On Our Boats!

Today I did an activity about life education. We had to find three facts about some body parts. We had to write the facts in a book and then write them in a google drawing. The activity was pretty easy because you just had to find information on the internet and write it in the book and on your google drawing. Little Legends Try It Out Day
Yesterday the year 3-6 did an fitness activity in the morning. We had coaches training I don't remember there names but one of them had long hair. We played some games and they were based on superheros. The first game we played was a tag game with the rugby ball this game was based on spider man because how spider mans fingers are sticky so they can stick to the wall. The taggers had to hold the ball with 2 hands and tag people with the ball. The second game was like a relay we had to get in groups and line up. Then you have to run and try it and run back and pass it to the next person. Here Is The Certificate Below!
Tahuna Torea Trip
Today I did an activity of our trip yesterday. We visited Tahuna Torea and we looked at three areas we looked at the Bush Area, the Mangroves Area and we looked at the Sand Dune Area. My group didn't get to do anything at the sand dune area because it started raining so we had to go back to the car park where we all meet up.

Mothers Day Mass
In class this week we made our very own Mother's Day cards. We made cards out of quilled or quilling paper. We had to get a piece of A3 coloured paper and fold it. Once we folded it we had to get strips of coloured paper the colours were pink, violet and white. We had to make a shape of a hard with two strips of coloured paper. Then we had to glue it with PVA glue on the sides and glue them on the piece of paper that we folded. Then when you finished gluing it you get a paintbrush or a pencil and you make a swirl with it.
In my card I wrote how much I appreciate my mum, how I know she loves me and why I love her.
Maori Alphabet
Today we learnt about the Māori alphabet (arapū) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound. Oropūare and Orokati means Vowels and Consonants. Something new I learnt about the alphabet was that when the macrons are on top of a letter you have to pronounce it longer.
